This morning, as part of the Illinois Farm Bureau's Adopt-A-Legislator ® program, Hancock County farmers Bryan and Julie Stevens, along with their daughters Grace and Caroline, volunteered their time at the Hanover Township Back-to-School backpack distribution event. Hanover Township is located in their adopted legislator, Rep. Fred Crespo's, district. The girls helped staff Rep. Crespo's table and handed out Ag Mags and treats, while Bryan and Julie assisted with handing out backpacks filled with school supplies. Over 1,000 local school children in need received backpacks. Afterwards, we were able to discuss some key legislative issues with Rep. Crespo's district director Leonard, including the LMFA, private property rights and school funding. This was a great event to reach out to an urban community while strengthening our relationship with Rep. Crespo and his staff.
